In 2024, the City of Orillia took a significant step forward in its commitment to sustainable urban planning and infrastructure management with the release of an extensive Asset Management Plan (AMP). Crafted to reflect the city’s vision for a resilient future, this report provides an in-depth roadmap, detailing strategies to optimize the lifecycle of its assets while maximizing value for residents and stakeholders. The City entrusted Swerve Design Group to bring this crucial document to life, resulting in a 300+ page, data-rich PDF loaded with insights, vision, and over 150 charts that visually depict the status and projections for Orillia’s infrastructure.
Designing an Accessible, Data-Driven Report
The report is more than a document; it’s a dynamic presentation of Orillia’s infrastructure assets, covering everything from roads, water systems, and green spaces to community facilities and public services. With over 150 detailed charts, this document ensures that each category of assets is illustrated through accessible data visualization.
These charts, specifically designed to present data with clarity, play a pivotal role in making the report easily navigable for all readers, from policy-makers to Orillia’s residents. By visually encapsulating complex data, the report enables readers to understand asset conditions, funding needs, and projected improvements.
Building a Blueprint for Infrastructure Longevity
The Asset Management Plan is a carefully curated blueprint aimed at preserving Orillia’s assets over their full lifecycle. Each section of the report addresses key elements like asset condition assessments, risk management strategies, and funding scenarios. By presenting the city’s current position alongside detailed future projections, it enables decision-makers to prioritize investments that balance immediate needs with long-term sustainability goals.
Our design approach emphasized creating a seamless flow throughout the document, facilitating the navigation of complex data while supporting transparency in how assets are managed, evaluated, and funded. The report acts as both a point-in-time snapshot and a strategic guide, helping to align budgetary allocations with projected community needs.
By delivering a clear, visually compelling presentation of Orillia’s assets, Swerve Design Group’s report enhances the accessibility of vital information that serves as the foundation for informed decision-making across the city.
